Our Approach
Our inclusive approach to therapy supports all communication forms, ensuring comprehensive and effective therapy. We adapt to meet each client's needs in every session, following their lead and engaging in meaningful and motivating therapy activities. Many sessions begin with sensory regulation techniques to make sure clients are at an optimal level of learning by moving the body in mindful ways.
Parents are involved in our therapy sessions to empower them with the strategies to support their child's communication and sensory needs at home. We also collaborate closely with other professionals on the child's team to ensure we are supporting all areas of need.
AAC Evaluations for Complex Communicators
Amplified Voices Speech Therapy (AVST) specializes in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) evaluations for complex communicators. Our comprehensive approach includes:

-
Observing and interacting with your child to gauge their language skills and abilities.
-
Assessing current AAC tools and exploring various communication methods.
-
Noting your child's use of gestures, vocalizations, verbal words, and AAC.
Our aim is to identify the most effective communication tools for your child to guide them to more effective communication, opening doors to new opportunities for self-expression and interaction.

AAC Therapy & Training for Families & Caregivers
Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) therapy and training are designed to enhance the communication skills of our clients. In speech therapy for AAC we will work on:

-
Developing communication skills for requesting, commenting, socializing, protesting, describing, and advocating for needs.
-
Identifying and using "core words" to increase functional communication.
-
Supporting gestalt language processors by emphasizing natural language acquisition and understanding individual learning styles.
-
Utilizing multimodal supports such as voice output devices, verbalizations, gestures, and more.
AVST also provides training for parents and team members, ensuring the communication device is integrated into all daily activities for comprehensive support and development.
Therapy Focused on Regulating Your Child's Sensory Systems
Amplified Voices Speech Therapy places a strong emphasis on regulating your child's sensory systems to enhance language learning. Our approach includes:

-
Enhancing emotional and physical regulation to help your child access their language skills.
-
Empowering clients to advocate for their sensory needs in various settings.
-
Integrating sensory techniques like movement activities with language learning.

Recognizing the importance of a regulated state, we dedicate time for sensory regulation at the beginning of every session. If sensory regulation is a consistent need, we collaborate closely with occupational therapists or co-treat with other providers to improve sensory strategies within our speech therapy sessions.

Our primary goal is to help your child feel regulated so they can attend to activities and engage in learning.
